Description

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic condition characterized by high blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia). A decrease in insulin production and a decrease in insulin sensitivity trigger hyperglycemia. . The term diabetes is derived from two Greek words meaning 'to go through' in urine / honey-like urine, similarly, in Ayurveda, a condition in which a person passes honey-like (sweet) urine is called Madhumeha. It is one of the 20 forms of Prameha (urological disorder) mentioned in Ayurvedic classics.

Chronic hyperglycemia is linked to serious long-term effects, including organ damage or dysfunction, especially in the kidneys, eyes, nerves, heart, and blood vessels.
